wards for GW2
yea wards now u probably think i suck at this game eh?
well i wanted this kin of wards that you have to be fast with the mouse
like drag the mouse from A to B to C like this:
.................................C
.................................|
.................................|
.................................|
.................................|
.................................|
A----------------------B
like now you would have a square with the widt A to B and height to C
and depending on size it will take certain amount mana and there would be 2 sorts of wards like:
maintain-ward: using varying mana on size until you disable it or someone use a ward break spell <-(my creation to explain ) , or you run out of mana.
time-ward: depending time on size.
thank you for reading and please tell me what you think?

We don't even know if AoE will exist (it probablly will but hey whatever).
Its too earlier to talk about the targetting system of spells in GW2.

yah
it may ba a little bit hard but if you are planning like drawing enemies you could set up wards at all exit points but one and draw them in and maybe lock them in there? it would be cool i just came up with the idea from some harry potter nerd that was saying that wards we're good and it should be added to certain games so i read a bit of stories on the net about wards and came up with this
thx for the reply

about what you talk would be no simple wards anymore, this would be then Barrier Fields, which are much stronger, than simple wards like they work in GW with this ring field protection... (borign enough, that all wards in GW look the same >.> not even color reskins to make them look more different and easier to recognize meh)

i agree Phoenix at least there should be some colors on th wards but i still like my "wards" better. :P
like anti-physical damage nobody can do anything physical to a person on the other side and anti-mage no magic thru you would need to hit the ward with a sword or a ward breaker spell that would wary on the time left in the ward and how small it is

I'd like just to drag from A to B, and the line from A to B would be the readius of a circle, and that circle would be the ward.
That would be more GW-like.
Hm... and clicking dragging the mouse after activating the skill, a line shows up in the energy bar, and when you drag the mouse your energy bar is covered by another bar that increases and covers it (in a similar way that exhaustion does) so you know how much energy will take the Ward. And you would not be a ble to drag more once the 'consume' eaches the start of the bar.
Release the bottom, the ward is set and your enegy is consumed.
Hm... sounds like working.

The point is you can target a spot on the floor (rather then target a spell to go off on an enemy or around yourself). This makes it easier to cast stuff on choke points, etc.

All aboard the HindenVekk...
But seriously, I don't like this idea. Wards are their size for a reason; balance. It would be hard to balance capabilities of settable ward sizes on top of all the other skills and aspects. I can hear the future PvP players whining now...

hmmm you can't see me you have a point but i had this in mind:
- The bigger ward(bond, whatever) ,the weaker it is
- The bigger ward drains smalll bit more mana for it is so big
- The small wards drain a normal sum like(in gw1) 25? and is a bit stronger
MithranArkanere:
your comment with A and B would probably be much better than mine but it would be nice with colors on the wards like a transparent color of red, tha A to B =radius idea i like too for i think the wards in gw doesn't really work how i want them. But i wonder in your idea would it be possible to cast it on the floor like you stand some where far away and some monster comes running like could you cast the ward around the monster instead for on yourself?
